Simple Exercise Key To Healthy Brain

Physical fitness is already known to be good for the body in old age. Now a new study shows that exercise may also be good for the mind in old age.

Researchers studied a group of Canadian women older than 65. Results showed that participants who had regular aerobic activity had a 10% higher cognitive function score than their fellow participants who did not exercise. Lower blood pressure was also found to be a trait of the active women as well.

Sedation is now a risk factor for stroke and dementia. The study is the first to show that better blood flow to the brain is equal to improved cognition. The final conclusion is that simple basic exercise is critical to remaining mentally sharp while you age.
