Researchers studied 16 men in their early 20’s and found that young men who spent just 15 minutes all out sprinting on an exercise bike over a period of 2 weeks boosted their ability to metabolize glucose. Their blood insulin levels returned to normal quicker as well. On top of that, intense exercise was also shown to directly reduce the participants’ blood sugar levels. This is not seen in people who regularly exercise.
Researchers recommend intense exercise 4 to 6 times for 30 seconds, twice a week. They believe this can help reduce damage to the body and decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease as well as type 2 diabetes. The most important thing is to make the intense exercise a routine part of your life.
