Older Women Have A Harder Life

Although women might live a longer life than men, it does not mean that that life is free of troubles.

A new study has found that women in their old age are suffering more than men due to obesity and arthritis which starts during early and middle age. Women were found to undergo two and a half times more disabilities than men of the same age (above 65).

The increased disabilities might imply that women tend to put on extra weight in their child-bearing and peri-menopasual years. This therefore transforms into loss of independence in their old age.

Not only are women more prone to obesity and arthritis, they are also more likely to experience vision problems, fractures, and bronchitis. Men were more apt to have stroke, diabetes, coronary heart disease, emphysema, congestive heart failure, and hearing problems.
