OM3 Prevents Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye syndrome that affects mostly those older than sixty years of age. It involves the macula, which is the component of the retina that is accountable for central vision. It has been shown that Omega-3-fatty acids might have a part in preventing the onset of AMD.
Around three thousand patients were told to take one out of four dietary supplement groups—zinc, antioxidants plus zinc, antioxidants, or placebo. Results showed that no matter which type of supplement was given, increased amounts of omega fatty acids reduced development of AMD.
This study supports the idea that diet and supplementation can bring about the evasion of acute macular degeneration.
