New research has shown that unlike what scientist thought before, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and dementia do not die off, but actually increase with age. Around 2000 elderly people aged 80 and older were analyzed and found to have higher rates of dementia with increased age.
The total number of cases of Dementia or AD amplified with age, reaching a high 52.8% for those over 94 years old. These results show that the oldest people today are more prone to getting these brain diseases.
These findings emphasize that age is a very important risk factor for dementia.
