Cod Liver Oil Helps Cancer Survival
A new Norwegian study of 68,000 people shows that people with lung cancer who used cod liver oil for 1 year prior to diagnosis were 44 percent less likely to die from the disease while patients who used other supplements (multivitamin and mineral supplements) were 30 percent less likely to die from the disease compared to those who did not take supplements.
This shows that taking dietary supplements before being diagnosed with lung cancer increases chances of survival. Not only does cod liver oil benefit the lungs, but it also helps prevent solid breast and colorectal tumors.
Cod liver oil contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, and Vitamins A, D, and E. According to the U.S. National Cancer Institute, 219,000 people in America will conceive lung cancer and 159,000 will die from it in 2009.
