Drinking 5 cups of green tea daily can lower the risk of developing blood and lymph cancers. In addition, green tea has been known to decrease risk of heart disease deaths.

After studying the diets and green tea drinking habits of Japanese adults aged 40-79 years old, experts found that the overall risk was 42% lower for blood cancer and 48% lower for lymph system cancers among those who drank 5 or more cups of green tea a day compared to those who only drank 1 or less cups daily.

Even though obese participants have higher risks of blood-related cancers, researchers also found the risk to drop for those who drank more cups of green tea. The connection between green tea and reduced risk of cancer stood strong even though there were many differences in age, gender, smoking status and history, education, alcohol use, and soybean and fish consumption.
