Eat More Vegetables To Conquer Obesity

Everybody knows that eating vegetables are good for the body. Here is one of the reasons why. The leafy greens can help battle metabolic processes that lead to heart disease and obesity. These plant-based foods are rich in phytochemicals, which prevents oxidative stress in the body, a process connected with weight gain.

The effective way to get the protective phytochemicals is by consuming fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes at the beginning of each meal. Not only should one eat more nutritious foods, but one should also cut back on fat and junk food. It is better to fill your plate with low-calorie, colorful, varied-texture plant foods first. For example, start of this Thanksgiving meal with salads with olive oil or fresh fruits. Starting your meal like this will eventually lower the overall portion size, and fat content of your intake.

The study results found that people who ate less plant-based foods had higher rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and joint disease. It also correlated to annual weight gain, low levels of inflammation, and oxidative stress.
