I don't have any questions, I just wanted to thank you for bringing life back to me.
I was so sick and now I am feeling as good as I did twenty years ago! It has been a long battle: no energy, aches and pains going from one
Dr. to the next. They told me it was anything from arthritis to depression; they had me on steroids for three years... All behind me now!
I just don't know how to thank you. I think it would be wonderful if you could just be everywhere with your caring heart. Information and the
real reason behind all of the bad, sick days that so many of us have had.
Sincerely, Jessica...@telusplanet.net

Researchers from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), tested more than 300 samples of canned tuna from the top brands in USA and found that more than half of them contained mercury levels above the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) safety level. 55% of the samples had levels higher than the EPA standard of 0.5 ppm and 5 % had levels higher than 1.0 ppm safety level set by FDA for commercially sold fish. The FDA, whose standard is higher, looks at the effect of mercury on the human body, while the EPA's standard is based on its regulatory power over utilities and the environment.
Canned tuna accounts for up to 25% of the nation's seafood consumption. Pregnant women and children, though the most susceptible to mercury poisoning, are among the top consumers of canned tuna. Federal agencies need to force distributors to directly state mercury levels in their products. The study found that white tuna, which comes from albacore, had the highest mercury concentrations compared to "light" tuna, which comes from a different kind of fish.
Mercury poisoning can damage the central nervous system, hearing loss, and vision problems. Mercury content in fish is highly dependent on their environment, including where they are caught and the size of the fish. According to the EPA and the FDA, high-risk groups, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, women who may become pregnant and young children, should limit their weekly tuna consumption to no more than 12 ounces (two meals) of light tuna a week, or up to 6 ounces of albacore (white tuna).
