I don't have any questions, I just wanted to thank you for bringing life back to me.

I was so sick and now I am feeling as good as I did twenty years ago! It has been a long battle: no energy, aches and pains going from one Dr. to the next. They told me it was anything from arthritis to depression; they had me on steroids for three years... All behind me now!

I just don't know how to thank you. I think it would be wonderful if you could just be everywhere with your caring heart. Information and the real reason behind all of the bad, sick days that so many of us have had.

Sincerely, Jessica...@telusplanet.net

Longer Lifespan Means More Cataract Development

American lifespan has increased and more people living past 70 years old will have developed cataracts at some point in their lives. Experts from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) say it is important to find out when the best time would be to get surgery. People at age 40 should get a baseline eye screening exam to see if there are any early signs of disease and vision changes.

Cataract risk factors: family history, diabetes, smoking, high sunlight exposure, eye inflammation or injury, long-term use of oral or inhaled steroids. Cataract risk can be decreased by wearing UV-rated sunglasses and hats when outdoors. Those who have diabetes should keep an eye on their blood sugar levels through exercising, dieting, and using medications when needed.

Those who have cataracts are encouraged to think about surgery, which has a success rate of more than 95%. This decision is affected by how symptoms such as halos, glare, dimmed colors, blurriness, or other cataract problems affect daily activities like reading or driving. If a patient does decide to undergo cataract surgery, they must be sure to inform the surgery if they take Flomax, Uroxatral, Hytrin, or Cardura, because these drugs can move the iris out of its original position, making it harder during cataract surgery.
