I don't have any questions, I just wanted to thank you for bringing life back to me.

I was so sick and now I am feeling as good as I did twenty years ago! It has been a long battle: no energy, aches and pains going from one Dr. to the next. They told me it was anything from arthritis to depression; they had me on steroids for three years... All behind me now!

I just don't know how to thank you. I think it would be wonderful if you could just be everywhere with your caring heart. Information and the real reason behind all of the bad, sick days that so many of us have had.

Sincerely, Jessica...@telusplanet.net

My Opinion
Pantethine/Pantothenic Acid
This wonderful supplement has been shown to be helpful in cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disorders, colitis, Crohn's disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also used as an "anti-stress" nutrient.

Acorn Squash-Kale Soup
Fall season is the best time to serve squash of any kind. This soup is rich in a trio of anticancer nutrients: vitamin C, fiber and carotene. This recipe can be served as a meal by itself.

FAQ
Q: I am taking more time to complete my tasks; I find that I am losing my concentration. Why is that so? What can I do to improve my concentration?

A: Being in control is largely a matter of attitude. Unrealistic expectations cause stress because they make life feel unpredictable and out of control. So take the time to go over the week's events, plan in advance when you want to complete each task. You will be surprised how much more streamlined your days will be.

From Our Readers

Not a question, just a comment. AWESOME website!! I read through the whole thing and you've destroyed my fear of egg and cholesterol. I'm trying to eat a high protein and calorie diet to work out on, and a couple raw eggs in the morning would knock out almost half my protein needs (I dont get a chance to eat all that much). I'm excited to have found this site!

Quote of the Week
The patient should be made to understand that he or she must take charge of his own life. Don't take your body to the doctor as if he were a repair shop. ~Quentin Regestein

My mission is to empower each person to take charge of his or her own health. Too often we push that responsibility to our physicians. Well I have a surprise for you. No one is going to care more for your wellbeing than yourself. Once you take control of your health, you will not be intimidated by doctors. You will become the captain of your own boat. The best patients are those who are educated, because the best decisions you can make is an informed decision. I want you to be well informed. Read my 100 Anti-Aging Strategies to get started.

That's A Good Question!
Question: How safe is it to use melatonin?

Answer: Melatonin is perhaps one of the safest nutrients. Your body makes it too, so it is not foreign to your internal system. You cannot kill someone with a high dose melatonin. It has been tried. The normal over the counter dose is 1-3 mg. I routinely use 50mg or more for many of my cancer patients. Melatonin is much more than a sleeping pill. There are different forms, and depending on what you use it for, you should choose the right form and also make sure that that it is pure. Impurities can cause problems in high doses.

That's A Good Question!
Question: I take asthma inhaler, advair, singular, and synthroid for my thyroid. I'm finding it very hard to lose weight. I have also developed acne on my face at a late age. I am 42. Does all this tie in with the medicine I take and how can I find a better substitute?

I work out regularly, and have gone on different diets. I try most of the time to watch what I eat. I put acne cream on my face and wash my face with vanish soap because I don't want additional chemicals to irritate me more.

I have some stress and no menstrual problems. I am still regular. My thyroid levels are ok because I take the medicine every day. I have been on the asthma medicine for 3 years. Certain things trigger me off but lately I have been using the inhaler at least twice a day. I'm wondering if the meds have steroids in them.

Answer: Acne in a female of your age and the meds you are on are tied to hormonal imbalance. Specifically, the hormone that has a tendency to promote acne is testosterone.

Testosterone production in the female comes from among other places, the adrenal gland. When you are on thyroid medicine, have a lot of stresses, and hormonal imbalances such as PMS, the adrenal becomes weak.

Advair contains an inhaled steroid and a long acting form of albuterol. This type of inhaler steroid is not as damaging to the body as oral steroids in prolonged use. One of the many side effects of steroids is the cause of breakdown of protein and weight gain. In a body that is sensitive, this could be a big problem. On top of that, steroid can affect the adrenal gland, where testosterone is modulated. Your acne may be result of this. Normally, the use of inhalers does not trigger big problems, but if you have a sensitive body or have been using it for a long time, the situation may be quite different.

Perhaps, you should see a pulmonologist to have your meds adjusted as there are various drugs that have different levels of steroid in them. That is a good way to get started.
