Long comment: Vitamin D has many functions. One is to help absorb Calcium and Phosphate from the stomach. Without Vitamin D and ultimately calcium, the bones become weak and soft. In children who do not get enough Vitamin D, rickets appear. Vit-D deficient adults develop osteoporosis and have high incidences of hip fractures. Taking in calcium without Vitamin D to help absorb is equal to being useless.
