I have been drinking a lot of water with lemon slices in it.
Q: I have been drinking a lot of water with lemon slices in it. I am suffering from acid reflux and I have noticed that my heartburn has been getting worse. Could the lemon water cause these? I really enjoy drinking it and really don’t want to stop. Is there anything I can do to help the heartburn and still drink the water with lemon?
A: If you have acid reflux and a sensitive stomach, then lemon water may make things worse. If you like to drink lemon water, then what you can do is to dilute it more, so that the amount of acidity is reduced. Alternatively, you can also take some flax seed slime. This is something you can discuss with your coach if you’re a client. Often times, flax seed slime can coat the gastric wall to make it much more soothing so that you can tolerate the lemon water.
