I have had horrible symptoms since my adrenal gland was damaged during surgery

Q: I had surgery and my adrenal gland was damaged. I have had horrible symptoms since then. Can I get well if my adrenal gland is physically damaged?

A: Surgery is very stressful for the body to start. If the adrenal glands are also physically injured but still able to function, the output of hormones may be compromised. Stress, whether in the form of emotional, physical or chronic illness, is a major contributing factor to Adrenal Fatigue. This is primarily due to the dysregulation of the many anti-stress hormones. Symptoms can include blood sugar imbalance, immune system weakness, and insomnia. The adrenal glands are the major stress control center of the body. This can be overwhelmed with emotional or physical stress, leading to adrenal crashes. Unfortunately most of us live in a stressful environment or have a stressful lifestyle. That is why ensuring healthy adrenal function is important. The body has self healing properties. This applies to the adrenal glands as well. However, proper nurturing is required in order for the recovery to be optimized.

The use of glandulars or hormone replacement seldom helps in situations like this long term, though there may be some short term benefit. Therefore, our program generally does not suggest people to start with glandulars or herbs as the body may get over stimulated. Our program focuses on getting the body back up through gentle and natural nutrients, lifestyle and dietary changes. You should consult with your doctor regarding your thyroid medications.
