Low neurotransmitters could be draining my adrenals. Is this true?
Q: My naturopath said that having low neurotransmitters could be draining my adrenals. Is this true?
A: Extremely low level of any neurotransmitter can be draining on the adrenals as well as other organ system because they are all connected inside the body. A neurotransmitter label that is mildly low is usually not a problem and is actually good for you provided that you are healthy. We are still in the very early stages of understanding neurotransmitters. Most laboratory tests used measure these levels need clinical correlation to make sense. Most people with AFS tend to have high neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, dopamine, and adrenaline rather than low.
