Incorporating Vitamin C For Blood Pressure Issues

Vitamin C for blood pressure treatmentAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutrition released a new analysis of clinical trials which showed that taking vitamin C supplements in the short term reduces both diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and systolic blood pressure (SBP). The study was undertaken to determine the implications of vitamin C for blood pressure.

Taking as little as 500 milligrams of vitamin C per day for eight weeks on average lowered SBP by 3.84 mm Hg and DBP by 1.48 mm Hg, according to the meta-analysis led by Stephen P Juraschek and his colleagues at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine enforcing the use of vitamin C for blood pressure.

For participants who had hypertension or high blood pressure, taking vitamin C for blood pressure reduced SBP by 4.85 mm Hg and DBP by 1.67 mm Hg.

The analysis included 29 trials where the median dose was 500 milligrams per day, with the trial sizes ranging from 10 to 120 participants, and a median study duration of 8 weeks .

Observational studies showed that increased vitamin C intake, vitamin C supplementation, and higher serum vitamin C are all associated with lower blood pressure, said researches in their report.

The purpose of this meta-analysis was to examine whether vitamin C in clinical trials had any blood pressure-lowering effects. Previous trials had proven to be inconsistent.

The conclusion reached by the researchers was that “vitamin C supplementation reduced SBP and DBP. Long-term trials on the effects of vitamin C supplementation on BP and clinical events are needed.”

Practitioners Are Using Vitamin C For Blood Pressure

Dr. Linus Pauling, a famous chemist, now deceased, had recommended that as people get older, they should increase their intake of vitamin C. He recommended a dose of 5000 mg per day for people in their 50s. There are no known adverse effects to taking Vitamin C.

Vitamin C may also aid diabetes and heart disease, alongside many other ailments. Injecting an intravenously solution has been known to protect against cancer.

Intravenous vitamin C can also prevent gastric cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma, breast cancer, damage induced by cancer-causing radiation, Alzheimer’s disease, leukemia, smoke-induced atherosclerosis, gout, HIV replication, infections, diabetes, heart failure damage, heart disease, age-related cataract, and even promote wound healing.

Consumers should be aware that many vitamin C supplements on the market are not pure. It is recommended that consumers should use 100% pure vitamin C.

Lowering Your Blood Pressure Can Ease Stress

We’ve all heard that people with high blood pressure need to relax but it’s not always that simple. High blood pressure is caused by a wide range of triggers which include eating too much salt, stress, genetics, obesity, and adrenal disorders. This is something that should be looked at closely because there are strong links that can be traced through our body’s reactions to stress and blood pressure.

The system through which our bodies deal with stress is called the NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) Stress Response. This response operates mainly through what is known as the HPA axis. Starting at the base of the brain, the hypothalamus sends messages to the pituitary gland which in turn sends messages to the adrenal glands to produce stress fighting hormones. None of this is a problem in someone who has normal levels of stress and anxiety. The problems arise when elevated levels of stress contribute to the fatigue of the adrenal glands and result in Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS).

Many sources are available for vitamin C for blood pressureIt is always wonderful to be able to point out a dietary supplementation method which can help us to lessen some of the effects of stress. Vitamin C is just that; a wonderful way in which our bodies can help to lower blood pressure. When the body is overworked and tired, we are susceptible to further degeneration of overall health. During adrenal fatigue, the immune system is suppressed which makes it more difficult for the body to recover from infection and chronic fatigue. This issue is necessary to understand because chronic infection means that the body is also experiencing long term inflammatory responses which lead to vulnerability to a host of other diseases.

What To Take Away

Take a look at what your health plan contains and make a decision as to whether adding Vitamin C is a good choice to you. It is important to remember that everyone has a different situation and what works for some might not work for others. You can recover from AFS and get on track to a healthy and energy filled life, sometimes it just takes a few small changes to get there. Since there are no known side effects to consuming too much Vitamin C, it’s a good place to start, provided that your body can accept it. It’s not terribly common to find something that has so many benefits, low costs, and easy application into your routine. Maybe it’s time to check into what this wonderful vitamin can do in your life. Those afflicted with advanced AFS, however, need to be careful with vitamin C. The weaker the body, the less it is able to tolerate. Adrenal crashes can be triggered.

I noticed that when I would take too much Liponano C, I would get a canker sore. Is there a correlation between having too much Vitamin C and getting a canker sore?

    • Dr.Lam says:

A small number of people do get this. It usually reflects a body that has some underlying issues that is subclinical. In traditional chinese medicine, those who are consititutional “yang” can be affected. You need to learn that this is your body’s way of telling you to back off a bit which will resolve the issue.
